What hours will eConsult be switched on?
We are going to start with it on from 8am to 4pm but may have to change this as time goes on and we will see how things are working out.
What if my problem is not listed on the conditions list to choose from?
I would try to find the nearest thing and if you are really struggling call us up and we will take answers to a standard questionnaire in order for your query to be looked at.
What if my child is under 6 months, can I still submit an eConsult?
We would ask if your baby is under 6 months then you call reception, and they will take details as the majority of these cases will need contact with a clinician.
As a patient am I able to request better times for appointments? What if a F2F appointment has been made for me in advance and I'm unable to attend at that time given? Is there a response through eConsult system to say if we can attend?
Yes, please let us know when the best times are to contact you. If the problem is the same day appointment then we would hope you are flexible. For routine appointments we plan to send booking links so you can request a suitable time.
What if I have a prescription query?
You can either submit your query through the app or prescription line as usual. If you have any queries or you have been told you need a medical review then submit your query with as much information as possible via the eConsult. This may enable us to review your medication without the need for you to come in.
What if I need a form completed or a letter from my GP?
eConsult has an administration route as well as a medical one. If you follow the instructions it gives you, we will forward your request to the relevant clinician or the secretaries as needed.
What if I want to speak to a particular GP?
Please let us know when you complete the eConsult as we are keen to maintain continuity.
What if I need a medical certificate?
We would ask that you let us know what dates you need it from and to, why you need the certificate, if you have attended a specialist or hospital, and how your condition is progressing.
What if I have an urgent query?
eConsult should ask you enough questions that it "flags" those who are more urgent for us to look at first. If you have a query that needs to be dealt with even more urgently then you may need to call 999.
If I've been told I need a follow up, do I still use eConsult?
Ideally the GP or nurse you speak to should book you an appointment themselves if they want to follow you up, for example in three or four weeks. Otherwise, submit the consult explaining who you've seen and what they said and we will endeavour to direct you to the right place and person.
If I think I need a home visit, do I still use this system?
If your visit is not urgent then yes, please complete the eConsult with as much information as possible. We are only able to offer home visits for those who are housebound and terminally ill. If it is more urgent then we would ask that you contact us before 9:30am.
