Molly has a new type of medical qualification which is called a “Physician Associate”.
As a Physician Associate Molly completed an undergraduate degree in ‘Medical Science’ and then a further 2 years of intensive training on the ‘Physician Associate Course’ at Newcastle Medical School. This involves lectures and coursework covering all aspects of medicine with placements in GP surgeries and hospitals. Part of her training occurred with Alnwick Medical Group and we were delighted when Molly agreed to join us on completion of her training.
Whilst we cannot call her a Doctor, Molly’s training has provided her with the skills to see people with a wide range of conditions. Molly always has a named supervising Doctor. If a patient requires a prescription Molly will always check with her supervisor and this is signed by them. As part of our Clinical Team Molly may also visit patients at home and will discuss cases with her supervisor both prior to and after each visit. Molly has proven to be a highly respected and competent member of our Clinical Team.
